Living & Learning Zone
Living & Learning Zone
The Living & Learning Zone is a self-contained, fully accessible community facility within the Wilberforce headquarters in Huntington.
A variety of activities, courses, and groups for our own tenants, people from other support organizations and the local community take place in the ‘Zone’.
The Living & Learning Zone consists of two rooms, together with service facilities like toilets, kitchen, and on-site parking.
At Wilberforce House, we run a great variety of activities and classes for people with sight loss and other disabilities to enjoy. Here you will find details of some of the past activities that have taken place at the Trust.
Baking courses:
Various baking courses take place in the skills room. From mouth-watering French pastries to moist chocolate cakes and Christmas cookies, the smell of baking wafts through Wilberforce House.
Cooking courses:
As well as baked goods the skills kitchen is used for other culinary creations. In the past, we have had Italian cookery lessons including pizza, pasta, and tiramisu.
All ingredients are included in the cost of the cooking courses.
Art and Music:
We run a variety of music and art sessions previously these have included a drum workshop where attendees worked towards a drum piece that they performed in the last session. We have also run a Mosaic Workshop which proved very popular.
For information on current courses and activities please view our current Events.
The Wilberforce Trust is dedicated to helping those with visual impairment, sight loss, hearing loss and other disabilities across York, North Yorkshire and the surrounding areas.
