The York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge has been held annually since 2003. Over the past 20 years the cumulative amount raised, for a whole host of worthwhile local charities, is over £1,300,000.
On July 10th 2022, 36 teams will be battling it out on the River Ouse (between Scarborough Bridge and Lendal Bridge) for the Challenge Trophy and other prestigious awards, including awards for the fastest Charity Team, fastest Armed Services Team, and of course the “Best Dressed Team” trophy.
All donations are channelled through our Rotary Club of York Charity Fund (charity number 1025046).
2/3 of the money raised by a team goes to their chosen charity. 1/3 goes to our York Rotary nominated charities for the 2022 event – which are Accessible Arts & Media and Antibiotic Research UK, both small charities based in York.
As well as raising loads of money for the charities, this is a fantastic fun day on the river which will a memorable day for all!
