Club Wilber Events

Whilst we don’t publicise our upcoming events to the general public for child safety, we wanted to share some activities we’ve had in the past that you could get involved with, by signing up for Club Wilber here!

York’s Chocolate Story- We loved taking a tour of York’s Chocolate Story, learning about the history of chocolate makers, right back to ancient times- we even tried the original, bitter version of chocolate! We got to make our own chocolate lollies, and decorated them to personalise the experience!

Snozone- We loved facilitating skiing lessons for our families on real indoors snow, with dedicated disability snowsports instructors at Snozone in Castleford. Our young people learnt the basics of skiing, and some even skied backwards with their newfound knowledge and confidence!

Halloween party- Our yearly Halloween party is always a spook-tacular hit, filled with a skele-ton of fun activities! We’ve decorated gingerbread people as our favourite ghouls and ghosts, built Halloween lanterns, had a go at rescuing a bat from a sticky spiders nest (made from chia seeds) and even had a spooky pinata! We love seeing how everyone dresses up, and there are always prizes for the best dressed in our different age categories.

WetWheels- We love taking multiple trips to the coast a year to enjoy the seas with WetWheels Yorkshire. WetWheels is a fantastic organisation that provide accessible boating trips from various locations in the UK- our favourite is Scarborough! We get to go out for a trip for around an hour and a half, enjoying the sea air, the wind on our faces, and even getting splashed!

Forest School- Wild Things Forest School, run by Emma in York, is a fantastic opportunity to get outdoors and learn in nature. Children and young people get the freedom to explore the outdoor space under a canopy of trees, enjoying the mud kitchen, scented playdough, a pond, a rope swing, and so much more! Everyone is also taught how to light a fire safely, and we finish off the session with a warming hot drink and some marshmallows toasted on the fire we’ve lit together.
