The Annual Santa FUNdraising Run

For the second year running, we held a Santa FUNdraising Run on the Knavesmire on November 30th last year. 85 runners had enrolled, 2 reindeer popped by to see us and the sun shone!

Sponsored events like these are a great way of getting the whole family involved in something fun and a little bit challenging.  For those who had been doing the NHS’ “Couch to 5k” program, it was the perfect chance to show their new fitness levels.  For everyone else, it was a question of getting around the track walking, trotting, or being dragged by the dog!

Some of the parents from our Club Wilber decided to enter a joint team called “Force Amy” named after one of our wonderful Club Wilber children. Working together they raised over £1,800 in sponsorship.  The event was raising funds for the new Activities Room which we are building on our land off Tadcaster Road.  There will be a wide range of accessible classes and sensory sessions taking place in this room and Club Wilber children will be heavily involved in some of them such as art and music.

We are so grateful to everyone who entered the Santa Fun Run and we look forward to being able to organize mass participation events like this again in the near future.  In the meantime, we are looking at other ways of raising money and our next big challenge will be the Yorkshire Day Raffle so watch this space!

Now is the time to get involved and help us to make a difference to the children and adults living with a sensory impairment across Yorkshire.  To learn more about making a donation or fundraising for the Wilberforce Trust continue to our Donate page.
