We are so pleased to be celebrating a year of our Yorsensory outreach service. On 6th February 2018 our outreach van was officially launched. The van was bought, with money raised through grants and fundraising activities, to take the services we provide in the hub out to the communities.
Over the first year of Outreach activity the van has made contact with over 230 people to share information and advice about visual impairment, hearing impairment or dual sensory loss.
We have visited a wide variety of venues and communities including Acomb, Foxwood, Haxby, Dringhouses, Tang Hall and two city centre venues. We have visited libraries, community centres and market town centres. We have also attended events including the Energise event and the Great Yorkshire Show.
Ginny Anderson, our Sensory Service Manager says, “We are so pleased to be able to take the Yorsensory services out into the communities and speak with people who may not otherwise be able to access our services.”
We are so proud of the impact our outreach service has had on the community. We hope to see and help many more people throughout 2019.
